2013 Glen Phillips Poetry Prize
Entries are invited for Peter Cowan Writers Centre's 2013 Glen Phillips Poetry Prize. Entrants may submit up to five poems, on an open theme, with a limit of 50 lines per poem. Entries must be unpublished (this includes online publishing and social media), not on offer for publication before the announcement of the prize winners, and not have won prior awards or recognition in other competitions. Entrants must currently live in Australia. First Prize $400; Second: $200; Third: $100; plus four Highly Commended and four Commended certificates. Entry Fee: $10 each; $25 for three/$40 for five. Science Poetry Prize 2013
Australian Poetry (AP) and National Science Week are collaborating on a new initiative – a prize for Science Poetry. Submissions must have a theme which explores scientific understandings and achievements, including the natural and physical sciences, the applied sciences, the newly emerging and interdisciplinary fields, and mathematics. The winner will receive $1000 and be awarded flights and accommodation to attend the Prime Minister’s Prizes for Science Dinner in Canberra on 30 October. Open to Australian citizens and permanent residents over 18 years of age. Entries must be single-authored poems to 50 lines, written in English and should not be on offer to other publications or prizes or anthologies for the duration of the Prize.
