Ploughshares' Emerging Writer's Contest

Dear Andrew, We are committed to promoting the work of up-and-coming writers. Authors like Edward P. Jones, Sue Miller, Mona Simpson, and Tim O’Brien have all gotten their start on the pages of Ploughshares.  Our Emerging Writer's Contest recognizes work by an emerging writer in each of three genres: fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. One winner in each genre will receive $1,000 and publication in the literary journal.  We consider writers “emerging” if they have not published or self-published a book. The $24 contest submission fee includes a one-year subscription to Ploughshares. Plus, if you are a subscriber through our Winter Issue, you can submit for free!
