The New American Poetry 1945-1960 anthology edited by Donald M. Allen was a bible for me when it first appeared. I still tap into its statements of poetics at the back often ... and have bought many books by the poets within its pages. Certainly I have not been alone - it is a very influential collection. But ... have you ever thought who could have been left out? Amazing.
