Issa Haiku

autumn evening--
wind in the window's little hole
plays flute

1811

.秋の夜や窓の小穴が笛を吹
aki no yo ya mado no ko ana ga fue wo fuku

Issa finds beauty in the ordinary. Instead of complaining about the poverty represented by the hole in his paper window (we can assume it's made of paper because he says so in a nearly identical haiku written the same year), Issa smiles and appreciates.
